"He seemed to hang in the air for a moment, as if he had somehow mastered flight. But only for a moment; in the next heartbeat he was falling, falling..." -Magic's Pawn, p. 206

edit: And, I usually hate it when people type this, since it's stating the obvious to me, but....since none of y'all are doing it... If you have a fast connection (it's a pretty big picture), I strongly encourage you to fullview. You won't have to scroll sideways or anything, and the preview really is utter crap. Nine hours worth of clean lines and detail, especially in the eyes, my internet homies.

More Vanyel love. I <3 this scene. And I did not cry, damnit! I had something in my eye... I won't spoil the identity of the jumper for those of you who haven't read the book; those who have will get the significance. ;) And good gravy, were those reflections a pain in the ass...! Fun as it is to see just how far I can push my ghetto little image editor, sometimes I really wish I had Photoshop. I get tired of having to be so creative with the program...

There are two people depicted in this drawing: Vanyel, whose grill we are currently all up ins, and someone else. Can you find him? (Gee golly! What interactive fun!)

Haven't read the book, but I love the coloring and stylization of this picture. Your lines and colors are clean, but bold and full of their own energy. It almost looks like an animation shot.

Thanks! It took for freakin' ever. I was going for a "Disney cel" look (though my shading technique is different); I'm ridiculously happy someone else saw it like one. XD

Thanks! Yeah, he's actually happy for, what, ten pages in the entire story? ;)

Indeedy! Extra points for anatomy vocab. ;)

I admire your skill and misochism. Quite a good picture! I'm glad I full-viewed, it really shows the detail! I'm going to have to favorite it, and I try to be as un fave-whorish as possible, so to me, I think all that work payed off. :D

PS- Get over your mono! >:U

Thanks! I need to start hiding little detailish stuff in more pictures, it's quite fun (underneath the frustration). :B Really gave the art muscles in my brain a good workout. Glad to have earned the Puff Seal of Approval(tm). ;)

PS- I'm getting better! I think I'll go for a walk! I feel happy....

Oh! Oh! Pick me! I know where and who the second person is! xD

I love the horror you managed to get into just the little bit of Van's face you showed. Poor Van, his life is full of angst and what not.

Beautiful piece, I cried during this part of the book.
